Neighborhood

Downtown Point Richmond is the hub of this charming and unique village community. It features small grocery stores, galleries, cafes, a post office, a library, a branch of the Mechanics Bank, and numerous other small businesses and offices. The historic Hotel Mac building houses both the Hotel Mac restaurant and the restored hotel above featuring several handsomely decorated and renovated suites. An annex to the hotel with additional rooms and suites is located about a block away.

The restored Richmond Municipal Natatorium, otherwise known as the Richmond Plunge, is an historic swim center with activities for visitors of all ages. The San Francisco Bay Trail winds its way through Miller Knox Park, providing views of the bay and connecting hikers and bikers to downtown Oakland. Just off of the shore and accessible by boat is the East Brother Light Station, a restored lighthouse that is now operated as a bed and breakfast.

Point Richmond is a geographically sheltered enclave that is easily accessible to other East Bay destinations, Marin County and major transportation arteries. Interstate 580 East leads to the Richmond Marina with its new ferry service to San Francisco and continues on to Albany, Berkeley and Interstate 80, while Interstate 580 West leads to the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and continues on to Interstate 101.
